'Wilde Lake' is the first novel by Laura Lippman that I have read and I did so because of a highly favourable review in a reputable publication. It surprised me, then, as I was reading, that the reviewer had made no mention of the similarities between the characters in 'Wilde Lake' and those in Harper Lee's novel 'To Kill a Mockingbird'.
